What is a Love Mail?

Love Mail is like Pen Pals, that is filled with tons of flat gifts, but you do NOT expect a letter back! Have you ever written someone and they said, ” I got your letter, but I have been “MEANING” to write you back!” We want to remove the obligation. Love Mail is a gift freely given! We want to make it clear that we are not expecting a letter in return. However, if they do decide that they WANT to write you back, then great, you now have a pen pal! You send an unexpected letter along with gifts to anyone at all that you think would enjoy getting a surprise in their mailbox. Someone that you want to get to know better, or haven’t…

talked to in a while, someone struggling, lonely, needs a pick me up, someone having a birthday, having a baby, your hairdresser, the garage sale host (hey, you have their address!)… you get the idea! Along with the letter, you send as many
Zelorales (flat things or gifts) that you can fit into a gorgeous envelope. They do not necessarily have to be useful, they could also be funny, interesting, pretty, or a game to play.

Love Mail, is all about the gifts because it is a “gift” in the mail… in fact so many people have said that they get just as much joy by receiving a Love Mail as they would from an expensive gift basket!
Love Mail Etiquette:

  • Send at least a one-page letter that is typed or handwritten. A short introduction is good, but refrain from asking
questions about them, to avoid the obligation to respond to the questions.
  • Make it crystal clear that you do not expect anything in return! Say something like, “You do not have to write me back, I just wanted to say hello and brighten your day, but if you feel to write back, I will write you back as well”.
  •  Decorate the envelope, or purchase pretty stationery and fill it full of Zelorales (flat things) to amuse, entertain, and delight. Fill it as full as you can because “More is More” in the realm of Love Mail.
  •  Love Mail is ONLY an envelope letter, never a package. Love Mail is all about keeping it simple! Mailing envelope surprises is an inexpensive way to bless someone. Packages are more expensive to mail, and the items inside are more expensive. Remember that many people are not able to afford that, and I want to discourage from creating a standard for Love Mail that is anything but an envelope. With that said, for presents that you want to send for a special occasion, feel free to send a Love Mail in with the package in place of a card, or simply send a gift card in with your envelope.

What is a Quote-let?

Small sized quote sheet, with one to five quotes, usually with added illustration or graphics, perfectly sized for sending in an envelope.

What is a Whimsy?

Whimsies are the playful, quirky little treasures that add a spark of joy to your Love Mail! These fun and imaginative items are designed to entertain, amuse, or simply bring a smile to the recipient’s face. From printable mustaches on a stick for silly photo ops to flat fortune cookies filled with delightful messages, or even a sheet of Russian stacking dolls, Whimsies are all about making your mail extra memorable. These whimsical surprises are the perfect way to add a dash of creativity and fun to any envelope!

What is a Word-let?

A scripture that is small in size, with added illustration or graphics, ideal for sharing inspirational messages in a visually engaging manner.

What is a Zelorale?

I love words- But made-up words are the best! We all needed a name for all the “Flat Things” that you send with a Love Mail or pen pal letter… Those coloring pages, mazes, crossword puzzles, stickers, card stock cutouts, recipes, fun facts, paper dolls, DIY shrinky dinks, jokes and riddles, short stories, scripture quotes, life hacks, bookmarks, etc. We needed it to be whimsical and unique. Aaaand- we needed it to rhyme with Snail Mail.

Why? Because.

And thus, “Zelorale” was born. A Snail Mail Zelorale! Plus, it sounds kind of Dr Seuss-ish.

Check out my humongous list of Zelorales (that you probably never thought about!) for some fabulous ideas that will impress your Love Mail recipients’ socks off!
